Who Are They?

A Little Background....

TE/EN/AGE? Is this what they look like? Unverified artist's sketch by Frank Humphris

The Teen Enforcement Agency (TE/EN/AGE), is the 'unofficial' name for a 'non-existent' group of under-aged kids working for the United States Government... Codename: T.E.A.

These Teenagers are 'drafted' into service due to their display of extraordinary abilities and powers (Meta-Humans). This is done to protect and help them integrate into society as much as they perform 'tasks' for the Government no other agency can handle. Members do not have to be native to Planet Earth...  Aliens, once determined to be the age of teenagers with extraordinary powers and a desire to help can be declared "Meta-Humans" under the unofficial "T.E.A." directive.

Teens who are drafted can select their own "handles" (names) and "uniform" they wear when they are on missions. Sometimes though, a nickname will stick more than their chosen codename, as we will see.

Whispers about T.E.A's existence are heard by the General Public, that the team has existed with a varying membership since the 1960's and continues today, but these and other rumors are considered by most people as just another Internet E-mail Urban Legend.

***********************

The man who makes sure that TE/EN/AGE is 'officially' no more than rumor is "Chief" Edward Brumskim. He is an important man in the United States Government, highly respected by other World Leaders, yet few know his actual rank, position or which Government Agency he is specifically involved with. Some say he is a high-ranking Central Intelligence Agency official, yet his influence extends to many other branches of the United States Government as well.

He maintains offices, by his own choosing, in 'Center City' Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. TE/EN/AGE's 'home base' is there also, chosen since it is more or less midpoint between New York City and Washington, D.C. T.E.A. has always been his pet project and unverified speculation has it he's been involved with the team since its inception as a field agent.

This is all we've been able to decode about the head of this group at this time. As more information becomes available we will report it, of course.

***********************

Captain Ash is the current Missions Team leader. The "Captain" title was added by the group upon his election of leadership by the TE/EN/AGE members.

He possesses the ability to fly with great physical strength, yet he has no idea where he is from originally; no trace of his background has ever been found. It is assumed that he was abandoned at birth.

He spent his childhood being passed from foster home to orphanage to foster home, before his 'gifts' brought him to the attention of Chief Brumskim. The Chief has been the closest thing to a father to Ash, and T.E.A. a family.

  ***********************

Starr (short for Starr-Morning) was born with the ability to duplicate the heat or copy the light of a small star. He also can make his body-mass gaseous like a star or lighter-than-air, giving him the apparent ability to fly.

Starr is originally from the planet Baal.  He was brought to Earth by his father who was seeking a better way of life for both of them. (Additional... Baalarians aren't the best liked in this sector of space due to their overall culture... details we don't have right now.)

Starr tends to be an outsider in TE/EN/AGE; an outsider in a group of outsiders, wanting very much to be "just like everyone else in the world". Starr does have a desire to help (one of the qualifications for an off-world alien in T.E.A.), but it tends to find 'unique' methods to achieve his goals... not always in the best interests of the team.

Starr feels he should have been chosen leader of TE/EN/AGE, not Ash. He tends to argue with Ash on most leadership decisions.

  ***********************

Brian is the 'handle' of TE/EN/AGE's mentalist. In spite of the fact that he would prefer just using his first name, the other members of the team have overruled him and nicknamed him Brain Boy, all agreeing that name is far more appropriate to a costumed hero - code name.

Brian/Brain Boy has great mental abilities and powers of all types, but it hasn't been possible to determine exactly what powers he does have... as he continues through Puberty he seems to pick up and lose powers and abilities on an irregular basis.

He does seem the least athletic of all the team's members, but can more than hold his own in a fight. The trick is, he can augment his physical prowess with telekinesis.

Originally from the West Coast of the United States, Brian/Brain seems the most good-natured and sedentary of the current team.

***********************

T-lad, the "T" being short for Teleport, is the group's "mental traveler" and Science Whiz. Tee, with the assistance of several Government Laboratories, developed the very helmet he wears to control the Mental Electrical Energy of his Telepathic Jumps. While he can make short jumps to places he's already been, the helmet, packed with all sorts of electronics including GPS, energy boosters and other devices, gives him far more abilities.

Without wearing his helmet or the wafer thin skin-colored control patch over his forehead when out of uniform, he tends to teleport at the mere thought of going someplace ("I could go for a Sundae from MacDonald's..." **POOF** "May I take your order, please?"). Both keep him his powers suppressed and under control.

Tee is also the group's Action, Science Fiction and "B" movie fan. You will find him quoting some film at the least likely moment! He also carries a near 4.0 grade point average in his high school (English gives him a little trouble, but he works at it.). He hails originally from Brookfield, Wisconsin.

************************

Speeder is the team's high-speed runner. He is much faster than the average person, or car, or maybe even a jet!

Originally from the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Speeder's special powers came to the attention of Chief Brumskim because he was using his powers to survive, mostly by doing work and odd jobs at super-speeds... he refused to steal even when living on the street on his own.

The reason Speeder was on his own was because he had to leave home after numerous fights with his Father, a Fundamentalist Minister who felt that Speeder's powers were somehow Satanic.  Needless to say, Speeder doesn't have a very high opinion of Christians, or any Religious Faith. Will this change?

Speeder tends to be the quiet one of the group, except when his favorite team, the Miami Dolphins, are playing.

  ***********************

Miss Glory is the oldest member of TE/EN/AGE, she's approaching 18. She's originally from the planet Homeworld; a world known for it's belief that they are the source of all humanoid life in the universe... all life evolved on their world first, then spread out to other worlds. Earth, most backwards of those worlds in our section of the galaxy, is included.

Wrongly judged a criminal, or a "Spacelad" (literal translation of the Homeworld word), she was condemned to Earth to serve out her life sentence. (Inhabitants of Homeworld do not believe in Capital Punishment.) She was given a Survivor's Serum, which gave her extraordinary Strength and Manual Dexterity to survive the long Space Flight to Earth. Her present abilities are what remains of the Serum.

In spite of her rather 'strong' personality, powers to go along with it, and scar over her right eye, she tends to be the team's 'mother hen', keeping track of team members' birthdays and other important occasions. Her 'handle' comes from a Tex Avery cartoon, her favorite director.

As we'll see, she is not the only Spacelad on Earth, just the only one willingly to be in T-E-A.

************************

Occult Mistress, the newest and youngest member of TE/EN/AGE, was actually accepted into the team on her Martial Arts Abilities alone. Discovered and further trained by Starr, she actually taught him a trick or two. Needless to say, those abilities came in handy on this very first declassified mission!

She also has several dark powers that she thinks she has control over. Those powers seem to drain the life from her each time she uses them, so she naturally hesitates to use them. She also seems to talk to 'someone' first before using them. Who is it... or them?

Many other questions are answered in the Special Edition Collection of Original Teen Enforcement Agency #1 & 2 including her origin. Check it out!

The Spacelad...  Like Ms Glory, also is from the planet Homeworld, condemned to Earth. Unlike her, he kept the Spacelad tag as his handle to turn up his nose at his home planet: to make it a term of honor on his new home world instead of disgrace on his old. His natural abilities, too, have been magnified by the Survivor's Serum.

While he is wanted as a member of T-E-A, he prefers to operate as a solo, keeping the team and the Chief at a distance. He just likes it that way, nothing against the group or its members!

The unusual thing is that he has already given his origin to the public (not mentioning TE/EN/AGE, of course). His story is slated to appear in an up-coming comic magazine, and it's not Original Teen Enforcement Agency, either!

Stay tuned for the startling details of this development!
